ACMS Diversity Mentorship Program
The American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) is committed to the mission of promoting and advancing the highest standards of patient care in Mohs surgery and cutaneous oncology. In alignment with this aim, ACMS leadership recognizes the need to address lack of diversity in our membership to improve representation and patient outcomes.
The ACMS Diversity Mentorship Program is a pipeline program designed to increase exposure of underrepresented minorities (URM) to Mohs surgery with the long-term goal of improving representation within the Mohs college for betterment of patient outcomes.
Selected mentees will be matched 1:1 to an ACMS mentor as part of a year-long program based on the mentee’s needs and the level of interest and engagement of both the mentor and the mentee applicant. The program is intended to be a hybrid of virtual meetings and in-person opportunities (where circumstances allow) between mentor and mentee. Mentee applicants who self-identify as URM with an interest in Mohs surgery are eligible to apply if they are in good academic standing at an ACGME-approved dermatology residency program, or a graduate thereof. Any ACMS member in good standing, of any background and practice setting, who is committed to active mentorship is encouraged to apply as a mentor.
