ACMS presidentPresident's Message

Dear Fellow Mohs College Member,

I hope you are enjoying the summer so far. It is hard to believe that it was just two months ago that we were all gathered together in Chicago at the 44th Annual Meeting of the ACMS. We had a great attendance of over 900 members and we are already gearing up for next year's meeting in Washington, D.C.

Where the money comes from, and notes from the reimbursement battlefield.

Most Mohs patients have insurance, and therefore someone else is deciding what you get paid for what you do. That payment is determined by two numbers, and two numbers only: the RVU (relative value unit) and the CF (conversion factor). The RVU for any given CPT code is ultimately determined by CMS (the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services).

The Occasional Reader

Summer's here. And, judging by the conversations I overheard at the recent Annual Meeting regarding Medicare, Obamacare, family-care, and staff-care, all of you need a vacation–preferably a long one far away from the Internet or Smartphone coverage.
