ACMS Associate Membership

Applications for Associate membership within the College may be started prior to the completion of your fellowship training program.

Upon graduation, a case log* (ACMS or ACGME) documenting each case participated in or performed by the Fellow-in-Training is required. The case log should be submitted to the SISRB office by August 14 of the year of completion (if the program is completed on or before July 31). Fellows-in-Training with programs that end after July 31, must contact the ACMS for their specific deadline.

As of 2020, at least 1000 dermatologic surgical procedures per fellow must be available. Of that minimum, Fellows-in-Training must perform at least 650 Mohs micrographic surgery procedures, and perform at least 500 Mohs micrographic surgeries and 500 reconstructions as the primary surgeon.  Of the 650 Mohs surgery cases, 50 must be complex Mohs surgery cases and 50 must entail advanced reconstructive techniques.

Fellows-in-Training graduating from a U.S. ACGME-accredited MSDO fellowship must submit the following for Associate Membership:

  • ACMS Associate Member Application
  • Case Log*
  • $75 Application Fee Invoice with Payment
  • ACGME Milestones Evaluation
  • Letter of Recommendation from the MSDO Program Director
  • Attestation Form from the MSDO Program Director

Fellows-in-Training graduating from an International ACMS-approved or Australasian College of Dermatology (ACD) MSDO fellowship must submit the following for Associate Membership:

  • ACMS Associate Member Application
  • Case Log*
  • $75 Application Fee Invoice with Payment
  • Letter of Recommendation from the MSDO Program Director
  • ACGME Milestones Evaluation

*The following components are required for each case for both ACMS & ACGME case logs:

  • Case number
  • Date
  • Diagnosis/Histology
  • Primary/Recurrent (P/R)
  • Location
  • Number of Stages,
  • Complex Case (Y/N)
  • Supervising Faculty Name
  • Fellow Role Primary/Assisting (P/A)

NOTE: If you are submitting an ACGME-format case log, to generate the correct report, go to the Reports tab in the Case Log System and run the report entitled "Resident Mohs Micrographic Surgery Report", which is the link to the version that can be printed.
